Responsibilities
The Amherst County Purchasing Department manages the procurement of goods and services for the county government and Amherst County Public Schools. Its goal is to obtain the maximum value for tax dollars spent. The "Purchasing Manual" outlines the policies and procedures used to perform the County's procurement function.
Goals
The goal of Purchasing shall be to provide goods and services at a reasonable price and the maximum value possible for tax dollars spent, with adequate quality and in a timely manner to accomplish their purpose.
Regulations
Purchasing operates in accordance with all federal, state, and county regulations and laws pertaining to public procurement and strives to ensure the fair and equitable treatment of all persons who deal with the County's procurement system.
